Conditions of participation

​Can participate in the Retroronde
(40/80/120km + Paterberg & Koppenberg vintage ride):

  • Retro cyclists on with a vintage racing bike

  • Retro cyclists on regular vintage bikes (pre-1987, but not road bikes)

  • Retro cyclists on steel fixed-gear bikes (fixies) and steel singlespeeds

  • If gears are present, the gear levers must be mounted on the frame. So no shifters on the brakes. Only normal pedals or foot hooks with straps are allowed. So no clipless pedals. Always be in a retro outfit, or replica outfit without modern accessories.


Can also participate in the Retroronde 40km

  • Retro cyclists on recent classic steel vintage bikes (Achielle etc.) in vintage outfits.

  • Special vehicles: original solex, derny's, etc.

 
Cannot not participate in the Retroronde

  • Road bikes with gears on the handlebars and/or with click pedals

  • Mountain bikes or electric bikes

  • Non-retro looking bikes

  • Carbon frames or parts

  • A retro bike, but no retro-looking outfit

 
All that register declare having read the rules above and abiding by them.
 

 Before the start, each participant will be checked for compliance with these rules. Those who do not comply with these may be asked to hand in their race number and control card (without refund of the entry fee).

Rent an authentic retro bike


Do you wish to participate but don't have a retro bike? Our partner Velofinesse will gladly help you out.

For 25 euros you can rent an authentic retro bike. Reserve yours at  info@velofinesse.be . Attention, the offer is limited.



General Regulations Retroronde

  • The Retroronde on Sunday, June 16, 2024 is not a race. No rankings will be made.

  • Registration is voluntary.

  • A participant is officially registered when he/she has completed and sent the registration form, and when the registration fee has been transferred to the bank account number. The registration fee includes insurance for the participant as well as some extras.

  • The participant declares in good conscience that he is in excellent health and takes part at his own responsibility.

  • The participant must follow the traffic rules.

  • Each participant is expected not to damage nature or other people's property and not to leave waste behind.

  • New material (tubes, brake cables...) possibly applicable in case of repairs by the technical assistance is at the participant's expense.

  • The participant is personally liable for all damages caused by his/her own actions, negligence and/or carelessness.

  • Participants indemnify the organization, and persons working for or on behalf of the organization, from all liability.

  • The participant should follow the instructions of the organization and guidance when necessary.

  • The organization has the right to disqualify and remove a participant from the bike ride if deemed necessary.

  • The data of the participants will be recorded in a file. This file can be used for mailings from the Retroronde or organizer Centrum Ronde van Vlaanderen VZW. Participants who object to this in writing or via the Internet will not be included in the file.

  • Participants agree with the possible use of images in print, on photo, film, video, etc. for promotional purposes of the Ronde without claiming compensation.

  • If the participant cancels from the bike tour before June 1, 2024 he will get his registration fee back, after June 1 no claim can be made. In case of serious illness or family circumstances, the organization will decide whether the fee will be refunded.  

  • The organization reserves the right to change the route on certain parts or to cancel the entire Retroronde due to extreme weather conditions or other calamities, whereby the event cannot reasonably go ahead. In case of cancellation there will be no refund of entry fees.

  • By participating in this event the participant declares to have taken note of these regulations.

  • In all cases not covered by these regulations, the organization will decide.
